A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 1998-1999 RETIREES OF THE COLUMBUS MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT AFTER MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

WHEREAS, the following persons are retiring from the Columbus Municipal School District in 1999 after giving many years of their time and service to the youth of the Columbus Municipal School District and the citizens of Columbus, Mississippi: Marie Beene, aide, 24 years of service; Janet Blalock, counselor, 35 years of service; Emmittean Dickerson, teacher, 33 years of service; Bertha Gibson, teacher, 33 years of service; Jewell Hancock, librarian, 28 years of service; Della Johnson, custodian, 20 years of service; Georgia Jones, aide, 21 years of service; Frances Kimble, cafeteria manager, 31 years of service; Mary Jo King, teacher, 29 years of service; Lynn Sanders, teacher, 30 years of service; Robert Sanford, principal, 29 years of service; Betty Self, teacher, 25 years of service; Robbie Underwood, aide, 11 years of service; Maxey Vaughn, teacher, 35 years of service; and Alfred Walker, instructor, 27 years of service; and

WHEREAS, these retirees have unselfishly dedicated their efforts to assisting the Columbus Muncipal School District in furthering its goals of educating, training and molding the students of the district to be responsible adults and future leaders; and

WHEREAS, the people of Mississippi are extremely proud of these remarkable employees, who have devoted so many years of service to Columbus and the State of Mississippi in furthering the educational and social development of the students of the Columbus Municipal School District:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend, congratulate and recognize the outstanding employees who are retiring in 1999 from the Columbus Municipal School District after providing so many years of dedicated service to the youth and citizens of Columbus, Mississippi.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to each of the retirees named in this resolution, the Board of Trustees of the Columbus Municipal School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
